Università Politecnica delle Marche OSA Student Chapter Organizes 2nd Italian Workshop on Optics and Photonics (IWOP 2007)

Riding the wave of the success of IWOP 2006, the Università Politecnica delle Marche OSA SC organized the 2nd Italian Workshop on Optics and Photonics (IWOP 2007). The event took place from May 30th to June 1st at the Engineering Faculty of the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona (Italy).

The event, sponsored by OSA and the Università Politecnica delle Marche, provided many Italian students and young researchers with the opportunity to share the results of their research activity with the scientific community in a friendly and very interactive environment.

Oral and poster contributions also participated in a challenge for the best talk and the best poster. The two winners got a free OSA student membership and were proudly accepted as new members of the Student Chapter.

A series of seminars, held by famous invited professors from all over the world, was also organized to make the young participants aware of the last frontiers in optics and photonics research. Their lectures and the close interaction between professors and students contributed to create a very constructive workshop, attended with enthusiasm by everyone.

The event was also enriched by several social events, that strengthened the relationships among attendees.

The success of this second edition confirmed IWOP as a widely recognized annual event for the young researchers of the Italian optical community.
