Next Invited Lecturer of the PUCP-OSA Student Chapter
Our chapter has arranged the visit of Prof. José Sasián from College of Optical Sciences of the University of Arizona (U.S.A) for our next Peruvian Meeting on Optics. This visit shall be possible thank to invited lecturer program of the Optical Society of America (OSA).
Prof. Sasián will give two lectures: Overview of optical lens technology" and "The mirror lab at the University of Arizona and the Great Magellan Telescope". In the first lecture he will expose the fundamentals about imaging using obscure camera and its use on the painting of the renaissance. Some classical photographic lenses and ones of high-technology will be analyzed for illustrating the technology about optical lenses. With this background, the lecture will be useful for people who are working on the field of the optics and it will be interesting for public in general. In his second lecture, he will present the laboratory of huge mirrors of the University of Arizona. Particularly, he will speak about the Big Telescope of Magallanes and details about its optical design and its importance for astronomy.
His first lecture has been planned at october 18 at the auditorium of the University of Piura, and his second one at october 19 at the campus PUCP at Lima.
