News From OSAOSA Excellence Awards Announced OSA would like to congratulate the recipients of the 2007 OSA Excellence Awards: the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal Student Chapter, the University of Southampton Student Chapter, the Rocky Mountain Local Section, and the Reno Tahoe Photonics Local Section. The winning chapters and sections were announced as part of the plenary program at the 2007 Frontiers in Optics (FiO) on Monday, September 17, 2007. The Excellence Awards program was established seven years ago to recognize the outstanding achievements of OSA’s Student Chapters and Local Sections for advocacy and outreach efforts in their local communities as well as academic and professional development programming for members. Each year, two Student Chapters and two Local Sections receive an Excellence Award certificate and a $1000USD award.
