Announcing the OSA Student Chapter Recruitment Contest: Nov 07 – April 08

OSA Student Chapter Recruitment Contest is a membership challenge held each year between student chapters; this year, we are trying something new that student members suggested…running the contest over a period of months to allow for greater interaction between the chapters. The challenge is on for Student Chapters to find creative strategies to increase their chapter membership during that time. The contest winners receive recognition and prizes for the most creative strategies and the highest percentage increase in chapter membership.

Student chapter membership levels will be recorded as of Friday, October 26, prior to the official start date (Nov 1, 2007). At the end of each month, each participating chapter must submit new membership applications with the challenge cover sheet (attached to the reminder or available upon request). There are two ways to win.

Highest Percentage Increase in Chapter Membership
To win the most students recruited contest, chapters must follow the submission procedure described above. Chapters will be evaluated on the percentage of increase in membership.

There are two categories for winning this award:

• Large Student Chapters (over 15 Members to start)
• Small Student Chapters (fewer than 15 Members to start)

Most Creative Recruitment Strategies
To be eligible for the award for the most creative recruitment strategies, chapters must submit all required documents (membership applications each month and challenge cover sheet, as well as a one-page description of the recruitment strategies used and photographs of any activities. The chapter that implements the most creative program to recruit new members (as judged by a panel of OSA members) while achieving a minimum 15% increase in membership will win this contest.

All of the winning chapters will receive a special membership challenge trophy. An article recognizing the winning chapters will be published in OPN and Focal Point newsletter. In addition to the trophy, the two chapters winning the “Highest Percentage Increase in Chapter Membership” will each receive a free pizza party from OSA.
