News From Student ChaptersThe OSA Student Chapter Excellence AwardDon't miss this opportunity for $1000 USD! This award grants $1000 USD in recognition of two outstanding Local Sections. It is announced each year at the OSA Frontiers in Optics Meeting. OSA gives out the Excellence Award to recognize two outstanding OSA Local Sections in the categories of:
Criteria: Section Programming - up to 50 points. Sections are asked to give a brief description of their section's program to include meeting calendar, special events, and any publicity associated with their section activities. Educational Outreach - up to 50 points. Sections are asked to give a brief description of their education and outreach efforts. These may include school programs, cooperative events, Educator's Day, the Optics Suitcase, etc. The Excellence Award grants each winning section $1000. If you would like to apply for a 2007 Excellence Award, please complete and submit the online form NO LATER THAN August 24, 2007!
