News From OSA
Welcome to the OSA Membership Department’s
Newest Staffer – Allison Cargile
Hello All! KiKi has wrangled me into writing about myself, but since introductions aren’t my forte, bear with me.
Don’t let the lack of an accent fool you. I hail from Alabama and the red clay soil is still in my blood in the form of the fiery attitude southern belles are known for. I grew up moving to many places within the US and eventually overseas to Spain for three years (I am determined to return). Nope, I’m not a navy brat! It was my engineer-father who took every opportunity thrown our way to experience different parts of the country and world.
I recently completed a B.A. in Spanish and Latin American Studies at Miami University and although the name sounds as if students would be studying under palm trees and soaking up the sun, Miami is actually located outside Cincinnati, Ohio, where there is lots of snow and absolutely no place to ski (admittedly, this last fact was a quite a bummer).
After taking the summer off, I made the move to OSA (in Washington, DC) and I couldn’t be happier. DC is the perfect combination of east coast energy, southern charm and international ambience, which fits me well. OSA has also turned out to be a great fit, as I have the privilege of working with various components of the Membership and Development department.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my work with Student Chapters and Local Sections and after FiO returned with even greater excitement for our organization and all the work KiKi (L’Italien, OSA Chapter & Student Services Manager) does for Student Chapters and all that the chapter leaders contribute to our programs, members, and their communities.
Our volunteers’ passion for their work and their willingness to give back made a profound impression.
Thanks to all who I met in Rochester, you are a wonderful group of souls! Keep an eye out for more emails from me and feel free to shoot me a message if you have more questions!
Have a fabulous holiday season!
Until next time,
Allison Cargile
