News From OSAAnnual Recruitment ContestOSA held its annual Student Chapter Member Recruitment contest during the month of September and had a record number of 14 Chapters participate! For those unfamiliar with the contest, each year OSA offers both member rebates and a pizza party to the Chapter that recruits the most new members. During OSA’s Annual Meeting, Yoshi Okawachi, from Cornell University, the winning Chapter in the “Over 15 Members” category, shared that the pizza party was the motivating factor for new members, as everyone saw from the beginning that OSA Chapters and Sections offer both member benefits and fun! Our second winning Chapter, in the “Under 15 Members” category, was the University of Oregon, a brand new chapter who doubled their Chapter size during our contest! Overall, the 14 participating Chapters recruited 58 new members! We look forward to next year’s contest! Plans for next year’s contest include moving the start date to October so that European Chapters, who start school later than we do here in the States, can better participate.
