Apply for the OSA/MRS and OSA/SPIE 2007-2008 Congressional Fellowships!

OSA hosts two Congressional Fellows -- one jointly with the Materials Research Society (MRS) and another with SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

These Congressional Fellowships are designed to:

• Provide a unique public policy learning experience.
• Demonstrate the value of science-government interaction.
• Bring technical backgrounds and external perspectives to the decision-making process in Congress.
• Fellows spend one year working as special legislative assistants on the staffs of members of Congress or congressional committees.

Become a Congressional Science Fellow and:

• Expand your own career by gaining first-hand knowledge of Congress.
• Use your technical expertise to contribute to the policymaking process.
• Forge links between the engineering, scientific and government communities.
• The OSA/MRS and OSA/SPIE Congressional Fellows receive a stipend, as well as an allowance for health insurance, travel and relocation expenses. An applicant is expected to be a member of OSA and have a doctorate.
